TNB CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NATION’S HUMAN CAPITAL

  • RM 35 million scholarship allocation to 93 exceptional students for the start of the September 2021 school year
  • Contribution of over RM 1.2 billion to over 18,500 students in the form of scholarships, MyBF scholarships and convertible loans since 1993

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), through Yayasan Tenaga Nasional (YTN), continues to support the development of the country’s human capital by awarding scholarships to 93 excellent quality students with strong leadership qualities and active in extracurricular activities to further their education in local and foreign universities.

They were chosen from 8,400 applicants who participated in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) in 2020 with 20 grantees to continue their studies in Electrical Engineering, Accounting / Finance or Science and Data Analysis abroad. Another 73 students will continue their studies in electrical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, finance, commerce or accounting at the Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).

Throughout their studies, TNB allocated scholarships of around RM 35 million with RM 1 million each for overseas courses and between RM 120,000 to RM 140,000 for local courses. Since its inception in 1993, TNB has disbursed over 1.2 billion ringgit in the form of MyBF scholarship (66 million ringgit), scholarships (597 million ringgit) and convertible loans (547 million ringgit) to over of 18,500 students.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan saw the initiative as a manifestation of TNB’s close relations with the rakyat and said: “On behalf of the federal government, I am truly grateful to Tenaga Nasional Berhad for his efforts to support the government in improving the quality of life for the rakyat, especially as the country is still reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I understand that TNB via YTN contributed RM426 million in Regulatory Period 2 (RP2) from 2018 to July 2021 for scholarships, convertible loans and the My Brighter Future (MyBF) scholarship,” he said. he said at the YTN scholarship ceremony held. via the hybrid method in ILSAS last Friday.
